Nish Kumar’s takedown of Stanley Johnson’s Islamophobia will have you cheering
Probably not many people were watching Channel 4’s general election coverage and if this clip is anything to go by, it’s for the best.
It’s the prime minister’s father Stanley Johnson talking about burqas and, well, you’re going to have to watch it for yourself.
Stanley Johnson you nasty, horrible, islamophobic prick. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it. #GeneralElection2019 pic.twitter.com/ItRWMV5iHx

His comments generated no shortage of outrage on Twitter, but the best response came on the C4 programme itself, from the great Nish Kumar who said this.

And just a few of the things people were saying about it.

Nish Kumar's poise and restraint is honourable. No one would have blamed him for punching Stanley Johnson square in the face, but he came back with one of the most scathing and incredible takedowns. #C4AltElection

Jaw gaping as @MrNishKumar goes in respectfully on Stanley Johnson about his son’s racist rhetoric. They should just have let him continue. The only honest words being spoken tonight.

Kumar wasn’t the only one of the panellists to put Johnson entirely in his place. Katherine Ryan will have you cheering too.

Stanley Johnson getting a rougher ride from Katherine Ryan than any media outlet gave his son for the last 6 weeks. #C4AltElection

And just in case you’re a sucker for this sort of thing, here’s a longer clip of Johnson, Kumar and everyone else.
