The replies to this complaint about a woman Santa simply win Twitter – our 12 favourites
It’s often hard to tell what’s real on the internet now that fake news has been elevated to a science, and Twitter is a particularly fertile space for wild claims shouted into the echo chamber. This Australian version of Katie Hopkins’ claim about a four-year-old’s reaction to a female “Santa”, for example, has a strong whiff of bullshit about it.
Media editor, Rob Stott cut the legs from under her claim with this statement.
Myer Bondi Junction doesn't have a Santa this year https://t.co/tOS6n7Antq

In fact, a lot of people dropped by to tell Prue MacSween what they thought of her post. These were the best we read.

Oh yeah totally, like when I had my fifth birthday at Maccas and Ronald McDonald came out and I realised he wasn’t the real Ronald McDonald and I just crushed my Happy Meal toy in my first and then lit up my first cigarette right there at the table

These things are getting out of hand Prue, I was at my son's nativity play last week and they had a white child playing the role of Baby Jesus

i took my large 15 year old son to see santa on the weekend. he was very excited until we realised it was just 17 ferrets taped together in a santa costume. it was barely even sentient. one of the ferrets looked at him and he cried. very disappointing!

Two and three year olds cry cause santa is a frightening stranger. 4 year olds cry cause of the gender nonsense. Good to know.

I was the 4 year old. I was also the female Santa. I am the snake that eats its own tail, the mirror, the abyss.

Wait till that 4 yr old finds out the red suited Santa is a Coca Cola construct, and the real Santa wears a green suit.
