It should be pointed out that she’s simply the latest ambassador, not the only one.
Okay this article is intentionally a bit sensationalist right?
It DOES seem a bit odd… but she’s an ambassador ALONGSIDE many amazing British Asians including Konnie Huq, James Caan, Naughty Boy, Nihal, Nina Wadia & many more.
Need to add @GuzKhanOfficial & @tezilyas though…— Scroobius Pip (@Scroobiuspipyo) February 4, 2020
That didn’t make her appointment seem any less inappropriate.

I love Katy but seriously? She's not British or is she Asian. There are SO MANY BRITISH ASIAN celebrities who should be in her place: Dev Patel, Jameela Jamil, Anjali Mohindra, Parminder Nagra and Riz Ahmed to name a few. https://t.co/J1su2rQoFV

This is what happens when white people listen to #JoaquinPhoenix's #BAFTA speech about dismantling systematic racism. They double down and pick Katy Perry to be the face of their Asian Trust. #NotSorry #ICannot https://t.co/jsgft88H2p

I once didn't get a job because I only had 1 and a half years of experience with spreadsheets rather than the required 2 https://t.co/D2kzZXCXPi

Prince Charles: Am I so out of touch?
No it's the British Asians who are wrong. pic.twitter.com/KrQFL99UDa— Rich Wrigley (@rwrigley) February 5, 2020

Tweeter @MelikeYzzz drew our attention to the irony of the situation.
So they wouldn't let a ~black~ American woman be an ambassador of their family but hired a white American woman be an ambassador for all British Asians. pic.twitter.com/531EYRM3TR
