Laurence Fox is boycotting a coffee brand that dumped GB News and it didn’t end well
Very possibly you can tell how this is going to end but it’s no less satisfying for it.
It all started when these people got in touch with the good people of @Grind coffee to ask whether they were going to continue adverting on GB News.
Hi @Grind – we’re sorry to say that your advertising has been spotted showing up on GB News, which pushes out messages like this – surely this isn’t the kind of channel that you’d want to be aligned with? pic.twitter.com/v0VStwpkM3

When they didn’t hear back, someone else got in touch to double check.
Hey @grind please confirm you will stop advertising in Gbnews
— Tariq ☕ (@rzeta0) July 1, 2023
And the reply from @Grind was unequivocal.
Hey Tariq. We can confirm we’ve pulled all future spend from GB News. Thanks very much for bringing this to our attention 🙌
— Grind (@grind) July 3, 2023
Which occasional GB News presenter (and much else besides) Laurence Fox predictably wasn’t happy about. So much so that he did this.
Will never buy your products ever. I encourage anyone who supports free speech to #BoycottGrind
Get your coffee stuff from somewhere else. Companies who promote censorship like @grind should be ground out of existence.
Hit them where it hurts. https://t.co/KMwXoc1FOy

And whatever response he was hoping for, it presumably wasn’t this.
I just put a big order in. Thanks for bringing their ethical stance to my attention.

Surely refusing to advertise on a TV channel when you disagree with their politics IS exercising your freedom of speech ? If people hate my politics and refuse to come see my show – that’s not boycotting me – that’s showing their freedom of preference- why is that wrong?
— Janey Godley (@JaneyGodley) July 7, 2023
Where are these coffee shops? I’m going to buy my coffee only from @grind
— Just Neil (@Neilovichi) July 6, 2023
Blimey, the amount of businesses you claim to be boycotting, I am
surprised you will still have somewhere to buy groceries or clothes 🙄😂— Stephanie Hayden (@flyinglawyer73) July 6, 2023
Cancel culture is alive and kicking from the man who wants us all to stop taking part in cancel culture – you couldn’t make it up https://t.co/jEimkzB0f9
— Janey Godley (@JaneyGodley) July 7, 2023
I think you’ve just given them enough promotional coverage for them to not give a sh*t what you think or whether you buy their product which I will be doing now, well done 👏

For anyone who has decided that not being endorsed by Lawrence Fox means great coffee. You can sign upto Grind for a Subscription delivered to your door
If you sign up via Quido they give you £4 back. Which you can donate to one of Lozza’s fav charities eg RNLI or Pride etc

Well done @grind You have just gained another customer. Stay strong x https://t.co/by7L0M0q03

To conclude, last word to @Herring1967.
A lot of people here boycotting something that they almost certainly had never bought before and would never have bought in the future anyway, prompting some people who’d never bought the product to give it a go. https://t.co/I6MZNCnb0j
— Richard K Herring (@Herring1967) July 7, 2023
And this.
There could be a new marketing strategy here.
Buy an advert on GBeebies, then announce a boycott and see if the people that hate GBNews will start buying your product.
I mean how many people would see an advert on GB News anyway? More people probably saw my wedding video. https://t.co/2ajN8ldOYN
