‘Put an inch of cat litter at the bottom of the bin, before you put the bag in. Keeps everything smelling fresher for longer (leaky bag, moisture etc), just tip out and replace when needed.’

‘When you buy whole, fresh carrots, take them out of any packaging and cut off a tiny bit from each end. Store them in a Tupperware container (that’s airtight) in the fridge, and use as you need.

‘Literally last for weeks, which isn’t earth-shattering but also means you don’t need to over-buy to then throw them out (if you give it a try, keep one of the carrots from the pack out and stored in your usual fashion, and you’ll see it only lasts a few days before going bendy).’
