‘Using corporate language when telling me a story about your dog peeing in your favourite potplant.

Regrettably, an incident occurred this morning involving my household pet and a decorative indoor plant. The dog, acting independently and without prior indication, urinated directly into the pot plant’s soil, thereby compromising both its aesthetic integrity and root system stability. Remedial action is currently underway.”’

‘It sounds stupid, but correcting people.

Ever said something nuanced and someone reduces your point down to a generalisation then tells you why that is wrong and the room agreed? We’ve all had it, seen it in politicians and companies, sure you can find faults in yourself here, you can find recovery points after.

But the fact is some people just love to “win” and if they can reduce the point, move the goal posts, or twist your words in bad faith to get that win and have others pulled along they get to look intelligent without the need to be. And some don’t care about winning, they just like tearing someone else down.

Elon Musk was a great example of this, now personally he might be quite intelligent, a business genius, I have no idea, but he presents an online persona of a tech savant as he tears people down with great confidence – until you see him speak about your speciality and the ivory tower cracks.’
