People have been trolling Elon Musk for this prediction he made 14 years ago and it’s one Musk moment definitely worth saluting
For a man like Elon Musk, promising results is easy. It’s delivering them that’s the hard part.
Case in point: Eagle-eyed Bluesky user Wild Geerters noticed this old YouTube post of Elon Musk talking to the Wall Street Journal. In the screenshot, Elon sits awkwardly for an interview above a headline declaring that he will put a man on Mars within 10 years.
The only problem: the video was posted 14 years ago.
Happy 14th anniversary to this youtube video

Anyone with a calculator can see that we have blown past the deadline. We aren’t any closer to putting a man on Mars than we are to riding around in flying cars.
Many people flocked to social media to congratulate Elon on this special occassion.

I haven't been following this story. Did he end up founding the luxury Martian colony, run by dancing robots, which would prove to be the salvation of humanity?

Not only does he have no shame about how stupidly wrong this claim was, he amped up the stupidly wildly wrong claim to a million people on Mars in 20 years.

His rockets can’t even leave Earth’s orbit without blowing up! The dumbest so called “genius” of our lifetime!! I really do wish, as Americans, we give up the idea that being rich equals intelligence

Literally everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. And yet the media continue to buy his lies. The latest? He has 1000 Tesla robotaxis on the street in Austin. There are less then 40 of them.
If Muskrat says "it's a nice day outside," it's guaranteed to be pouring rain.

The nice thing about Bsky is we don’t have stans that come in to point out that “he just said ‘within 10 years,’ he never said he was starting then lol he totally could do it in 10 years lmao what have YOU ever built”
