Actor Tim Curry’s memory of meeting Donald Trump while filming ‘Home Alone 2’ ends with a burn about Trump’s love life worthy of an Oscar

Donald Trump is many things, but you might forget that, once upon a time, he was quite the cameo artist in a lot of movies and TV shows.

One such movie was Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992), part of which was filmed in the then-Trump-owned Plaza hotel. The director, Chris Columbus, once claimed that Trump bullied his way into a walk-on part in the hit sequel, which Trump, of course, denied.

Actor Tim Curry, who played the incompetent hotel concierge in Home Alone 2, published his autobiography, Vagabond, last winter. Curry is also the legendary star of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue, and Muppet Treasure Island, and traumatised entire generations of TV viewers by playing Pennywise the Clown in the first adaptation of Stephen King’s IT.

Well, one passage from Curry’s book has started to go viral this week c/o Twitter/X user @RealSprat. It’s an excerpt recalling his memory of meeting Trump and his “mistress at the time” Marla Maples one day during filming. And, well, just read it for yourself.

Trump said he wanted Maples to meet Chris Columbus because “Marla is a very talented actress”.

Curry writes:

“I’m…sure she is,” I said, leaning fully into the conciliatory tone of a typical top-notch concierge. That wasn’t a complete lie; I have no doubt she was good at faking it.”

BURN!

For good measure, @RealSprat also shared Curry’s memory of working with the Muppets.

Curry’s words about Trump have struck a chord, as you might well imagine. It’s up there with our other favourite Home Alone 2-related Trump insult.
