Politics Abdul El-Sayed donald trump US politics
Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed’s savage response to Trump’s racist jibe at him and his wife wins Burn of the Week – and it’s only Monday
If anybody in Donald Trump’s inner circle cared about him or his reputation, they’d have installed child safety measures on all his social media apps, because the meme-obsessed president does himself and the US no favours with his constant stream of drivel.
In a recent Truth Social post, he went straight to the racist playbook he uses to talk about Barack Obama, only this time it was the recent Democratic Primary winner Abdul El Sayed in the crosshairs. Not just him, though – Trump also went for the Senate hopeful’s wife, psychiatrist Sarah Jukaku.

Quite apart from that completely unnecessary apostrophe, Trump’s vague implication that one couple was better than the other seriously backfired.

Two very different Americas: One has love and integrity. The other has Donald Trump. pic.twitter.com/8xptvTCNZ6

Things got even worse for Trump when Dr El Sayed weighed in.
El-Sayed on Trump posting an image of him and his wife in a restaurant with the caption "two VERY DIFFERENT Americas": "He's right. One in which your overlords are two people who don't like each other but joined in the interest in making billions of dollars off of you, or two… pic.twitter.com/i15NV1bv5I

“So, yes, you got two different visions of America. Donald Trump’s vision is the one you’re living in right now. Can you afford your gas? Can you afford your groceries? Do you believe, when you look your kids in the eye, that they’re going to have a better future than you did?”
“And actually, Sarah and I like each other. I don’t know about the First Lady and the President, but from what I’ve heard, it’s a bit of a rocky road.”

The internet gave a virtual round of applause.

Pretty sure Dems have been waiting for a blunt counterpunching anti-Trump fighter like this since 2015. https://t.co/ttg39pw8rJ

With El-Sayed we appear to be witnessing a generationally good interviewee. Every time I see one of these clips he’s giving an off the cuff answer so good it could’ve been scripted https://t.co/oCTCHJA64r

BREAKING: BOOM! Abdul El-Sayed beautifully flips the script on Trump after he posts a HEINOUSLY racist attack on El-Sayed’s wife!
He went straight for the jugular…
President Dementia stayed up late posting again and singled out the wife of newly anointed Senate candidate Abdul… pic.twitter.com/FXttR5OE3G

I think this guy will enter the national arena as a plain speaking advocate for getting America back to normal. He scares the shit out of MAGA, AiPAC and the whole “Rent-A-Vote” world we want to torch. Problem is DC runs on money so he is going to need serious cash to fight back. https://t.co/2Ya9YuRBEF

Abdul El-Sayed does an excellent job here of redirecting Trump’s Islamophobic attack and pivoting straight to his message and vision. Good stuff https://t.co/cVDYZwsvvu

Trump’s racism should never cease to make us sick to our stomachs. This is the correct response. And since the president’s wife still cannot account for long periods of her life before she met Trump, he might want to lay off going after El-Sayed’s. https://t.co/GUtgemSL8v
