‘Interview was at a production company. Interviewer kept their golden retriever in the room who licked my hands throughout the interview. It threw off my performance.’

‘I went to an interview and the second I walked in the room a big energetic puppy stuck it’s whole face straight up my skirt. The interviewer acted like it was my fault .’

‘I was being interviewed and they threw in one of the “fun” questions of ‘If you could have any superpower what would you have?” I thought for a minute then said “Telekinesis”.
‘The lady interviewing me didn’t know what telekinesis was or really understood my explanation. So then I struggled for an example then said “You know how in Star Wars the Jedi can move objects around with the Force?”
‘She said she’d never seen Star Wars and didn’t know anything about it. I couldn’t believe it and then we spent the next 2-3 minutes with her insisting she hadn’t seen it and me being that boorish man and insisting that she must have seen it even a little bit. Then I ended with saying “Well why even ask me about superpowers if you don’t know anything about them then!”
‘I still cringe about it to this day.’

‘I once stopped an interview 5 mins in when the HR Director (interviewing me for a HR role) started proudly talking about how the CEO doesn’t care about “fluffy” HR practices and just wanted old school HR (hire and fire, no niceties).
‘I was flabbergasted as this was a tech company, and every tech company I’ve worked for has an amazing benefits package and tends to lead the way on innovation. Got the impression that the CEO was a dinosaur, and the HR director was too weak to stand up to him. No thanks.’

‘Got notification less than 24 hours to attend a group interview, get there and everyone had made a presentation, nobody informed me I had to do a presentation… pretty awks.’

‘I had an interview at Morgan Stanley several years ago. I started having a panic internally and had decided I don’t want this job so I said I wanted to wrap it up. They were offended and said they wanted to continue lol.
‘I did a few more minutes then said no I want to stop. They were still offended then did a slow, silent walk as they escorted me to the lifts and then out. They didn’t say bye and scowled at me like I was a nuisance.’

‘I went for an interview where the job turned out to be different from what the recruiter had told me. I didn’t want to do the job. So when they asked me if I had any weaknesses I said, “Well, I’m not very punctual.”
‘The look on the interviewer’s face lives with me until this day. I didn’t get the job, and never heard from the recruiter again.’

‘I was told I didn’t get the job because I didn’t come across as “bubbly” and, although I gave thoughtful and detailed answers, I was measured and didn’t stumble and stutter so that meant I wasn’t enthusiastic or excited about the work.
‘I was a 40 year old applying for a teaching vacancy in a secondary school. I wondered why they bothered to short list me.’

‘Interview not going well, I nervously took a huge gulp of water, choked on it, couldn’t clear my throat, choked some more and vomited all over the desk the interviewers were sitting behind. Needless to say I didn’t get the job.’

‘I was interviewing someone on Teams and the name on the account didn’t match the name of the person I was supposed to being interviewing. Turns out the applicant had paid someone to sit the interview for them. This has happened more than once…’

‘Arrived 30 minutes early, spent 10 minutes reviewing my questions etc before walking in.
‘Spent another 40 minutes waiting for them, then walked out. No staff talked to me, but knew I was there, so fuck them.’
