Charlie Hebdo’s post-Paris cover: “They have weapons. Screw them, we’ve got champagne.”

Charlie Hebdo, the French magazine that lost 11 staff members when attacked in January, has revealed a defiant cover for its latest edition, following the Paris atrocity last week.

The image of a bullet-ridden man spilling booze instead of blood is captioned “They have weapons. Screw them, we’ve got champagne.” – or “fuck them” depending on how sweary you want your translation to be.

The cartoon echoes the comments of Charlie Hebdo cartoonist Joann Star, who posted on Instagram after Friday’s attacks that Paris was “about life” rather than religion. “Our faith goes to music! Kisses! Life! Champagne and joy!”
