Student leaves pineapple in art show, returns to find it has been made into exhibit

Student Ruairi Gray left a pineapple in an art show and came back a few days later to find it had been made into an exhibit, complete with its own glass case and everything.

Here it is when it was just, like, a piece of tropical fruit. Little did he know how prophetic his “I made art” gag would turn out to be.

And here it is when he came back a few days later, as posted on his Facebook page.

And again, with some of the other exhibits at the Look Again exhibition at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

It spent two days in the exhibition before it was canned by curators who looked again and realised it wasn’t part of the exhibition.

Asked about the meaning of his exhibit, Gray, who is studying business information technology, said:

“As the pineapple decayed over time it represents the inevitable breakdown of all life. Fuck knows.

Art is never something I had considered but I’m hoping for an honorary degree now.If anyone wants to buy the masterpiece I am now accepting offers.”

It’s not the first time an everyday object has been mistaken for art. Remember this?

A pair of teenagers pulled off the prank at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art last year.
