One time I discovered my basement was flooding in a bad storm. My dad told me to go back to bed cuz he’d take care of it. I couldn’t sleep cuz I was afraid the house would fill with water and then someone would pour jello mix down the chimney and I die solidified in Jello.

I was 7 in 1975 when I heard my parents discussing JAWS. I lived in New Mexico, hundreds of miles away from the ocean, but I was TERRIFIED a shark would somehow get into a swimming pool or, uh, swim up into my toilet. Shut up.
