Donald Trump tried to explain fiber optics and we’re all a little bit dumber now – 17 online tech tudors chime in to offer the President some help
You know on social media when people prompt, “Explain this to me like I’m a 6 year old.” for a complicated topic? Well, this is more like, “Explain this to me like YOU’RE a 6 year old.”
Donald Trump was babbling on at a press gathering when he stumbled upon the topic of fiber optics. He attacked it with the same approach he uses on most topics he doesn’t understand: blame the Democrats. Add in absolutely zero omprehension of the issue he’s discussing and you get… whatever this is:
Trump: “There’s Pete Buttigieg, he spent billions of dollars on fixing the air traffic control. They used copper wire going into glass wire. Any union electrician here or any non-union electrician would say you can’t hook copper into glass. It doesn’t work. They spent billions of… pic.twitter.com/tb8UoUhW1h

No, the President isn’t the foremost expert in fiber optics. But why would that stop him from blathering on for a minute with a stray personal attack on Pete Buttegieg?
Let’s check in how this answer went over in the replies…
1.
Famously tech-illiterate 79 year old man attempts to explain fiberoptics to a patio full of mostly elderly Senators. And they’ll all treat every word as genius. https://t.co/h6hx7eZ68y

Trump: “We want to be able to blame somebody.”
That’s his whole life in a nutshell.

As an electrical engineer, I am appalled at this nonsense, but not as appalled at knowing half of American voters thought Trump was some sort of genius.

Again, each and every time we hear Trump say something outlandish and ridiculous, no one questions his mental fitness. I really believe Joe Biden got a raw deal. They had pundits on for hours over every gaffe questioning his fitness. Why the silence NOW?!

Trump explaining technology is like a caveman explaining Wi-Fi. He has no clue what he’s talking about, but he says it loud enough that his followers think it’s science.

Explaining things to Trump’s is like trying to explain algebra to a dog.
This fucker is dumb and can’t retain simple information.

Unreal.
He’s out here explaining science like a drunk YouTube comment.

We, long ago, figured out that Trump is a moron. The puzzler is why his people don’t tell him that he is demonstrating that fact every time he talks about science. The only explanation I can think of is that they have zero respect for the knowledge and/or intelligence of MAGA.
