‘What’s the creepiest ‘glitch in the matrix’ that’s ever happened to you?’ – 19 completely unexplainable events

‘Had this happen to me once when I was working at a home decor store. I was folding towels that had been knocked off the shelf in the early afternoon when my boss came around the corner and told me the store was closed and it was time to leave. I had been in that one aisle with the small stack of towels for hours. No idea what happened and it’s never happen before or since.’

‘I had the same dream as my sister… every damn detail was the same except the colours which were reversed. We woke up at the same time… I told her she was in my dream and we went on to each in turn give a detail of what had happened in complete stupefaction… it scared us that it was happening.’

‘When I was 15 I was in a Walmart looking for a mother’s day card. I was scanning over all the cards and picking them out one at a time trying to find a message that resonated with me.
After going through a handful of them I pick a new card and open and see a tiny photograph tucked inside the sleeve of the card. It’s about a couple inches long. Something that would fit in your wallet. That photograph was a photograph of me when I was in 5th grade with my name signed on the back of it. I have no memory of this photo and none of my family does either but they all agree it’s 100% a photo of me.
I’ve since lost the photo but it absolutely freaked me out for quite some time.’

‘A plane crashed in the woods near where I grew up. Not a huge one, just a small Cessna type and nobody was hurt. Kids and teens made pilgrimages to go sit in the seats and play around it every summer, and we’d get talks from the headmaster about why we shouldn’t go there. The crash features in newspapers, articles and even a mini documentary. I remember going there myself.
There’s now no evidence it ever happened. The ravine it crashed in is also gone. It’s like the earth just swallowed it up and smoothed itself down.’

‘Fourth grade. Lost an all black Yikes! pencil, no idea where it went. Later that week, I’m in the middle of taking an exam, look down and realise I’m writing with it. I didn’t even notice I picked it up. Just reappeared in my hand out of nowhere.’

‘Went through a hard breakup with a person whose initials were ABC, with a birthday 12/3. ABC123, kind of a silly inside joke we had. Next day after she left me and I’m still sending sappy text messages, the front desk lady at my job calls me over when I come in for lunch. She says I have a call.
It’s my mom. We hadn’t spoken in more than a year, she’s never called at my job before. I lean in on the desk, have a nice conversation, she says she ‘had a feeling’ she needed to call me. While we were talking, I notice on the check-in registry that the latest person to check in had mockingly written ‘ABC123’ as their license plate number. Okay, coincidence.
I get back to my desk, and there is a post-it note on my monitor that says simply ‘ABC123’. I pulled it off and marched it to my boss saying ‘What the fuck is this!?’ He casually explains that I had requested a password reset and that was my temporary password. I took pictures of both and emailed them to her like some kind of ‘the universe is telling me something’.
It was clearly a coincidence, but it hit hard in the throes of heartbreak.’

‘I was cleaning a house I was moving out of. All my furniture and possessions were gone, I was just cleaning. I finished a bottle of Gatorade and being lazy, threw it down the stairs. But it kept bugging me. I kept imagining that it might have rolled against the bottom stair, that I’d forget about it, and I’d hurt myself on it. So I finally thought Fine! I’ll go down and throw it out in the garage!
The bottle wasn’t there. I went on to clean every surface of that house, floors, shelves, counters, and I never found it. A bottle is an inconsequential thing, but it did disappear under what was practically laboratory conditions.’

‘I was walking around desperately trying to find an ATM to get $20. Couldn’t find one. Then on the sidewalk in front of me is a $20 bill.’

‘A few years ago, I went back to my parent’s house, the one I grew up in. The room I normally slept in had a bunch of stuff in it, so I slept in my childhood room.
At one point in the night, I woke up and sat up in bed. For around three full minutes, everything in the room was exactly how it had been circa 1991. All of my comic books were stacked in piles, and posters on the wall. Moreover, the small 13″ TV I had had was on, and Twin Peaks was playing. There were things in the room I hadn’t remembered had been there. Absolutely perfect, nothing was missing.
I sat there for a while, completely calm, awake and conscious — this was not a dream. It was some sort of temporal disassociation, I was literally there in my bedroom 30 years before. I can’t really explain it.’
