Nigel Farage’s claim that Essex Police warned him of threats to disrupt the Clacton declaration collapsed like a wheel with loose nuts – 17 ‘Sure, Jan’ responses

The votes are counted, the results declared, and the 34 candidates can all go and get some sleep – if aliens even sleep.

Nigel Farage has, as expected, won back the Clacton seat he gave up to avoid parliamentary scrutiny over the five million pound payment he received from a crypto billionaire. So, that investigation will now resume.

Sadly, because the optics would have been hilarious, Nigel Farage declined to attend the declaration – choosing to stay at a party named ‘Faragefest’.

Farage claimed that he had been warned by Essex Police of an organised campaign to disrupt proceedings, and Reform described it as a ‘credible threat’.

He was probably being a little more honest about his reasoning when he admitted that he wouldn’t stand on a stage with ‘nobodies’.

Shortly afterwards, the major news outlets reported that Essex Police didn’t advise any candidates against attending the declaration, or claim that there was a credible threat. We’re shocked. Shocked, we tell you.

If there had been a credible threat to disrupt the proceedings, the Returning Officer Ian Davidson would have been warned. He wasn’t. In fact, he wasn’t even informed that Farage wouldn’t attend.

People weren’t surprised at the snub. Farage has got Clacton’s votes, now, so he can go back to ignoring his constituents. Here’s what the internet had to say.
