Under normal circumstances, the Republican primary in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District is not international news.

These are not normal circumstances.

For starters, the winner of this particular primary is Michael Alfonso, the son-in-law of Donald Trump’s hand-picked Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy.

Duffy is best known for being a contestant on MTV’s The Real World 30 years ago. He isn’t even qualified for his own job, so why would any of his recommendations be considered?

The fact that Duffy is loading his son-in-law into the Maga machine stinks of nepotism and doesn’t exactly engender confidence in Alfonso’s skills and experience.

And yet that’s not why we’re here today.
