A Texan entrepreneur was amazed you can’t fire someone in Europe if they get sick and the whole of Europe responded as one
Although, to clarify, just because it’s the case in the Netherlands doesn’t make exactly the same apply to the whole of Europe.
Not Europe => Netherlands.
In Poland, you pay 80% salary for first 33 days, and then it is covered by social insurance (employees pay for social insurance from their salaries plus there is some additional % of salary paid by employer)
After long sick leave, re-qualified has to be re-qualified for work by doctors and you need to take them back, however under some conditions, you can actually finish the work agreement during the sick period.
