‘We used to have a man who sat at the back of the bus with the same holiday brochure for years. He clearly had something up with him as he’d mumble to himself and hold the brochure right up to his face.

He was a regular, everyone knew him but not his face. Just a human body with a brochure in front of it.

Anyone reading this from my town will know exactly who I mean.’

‘On the Tube I once saw a raggedy looking chap sat with an old bread bag with a few carrots in it holding it over their nose and mouth and huffing on it like it was a glue bag.’

‘A mum gave her young kids paté on toast in the morning. It was 7am. I can usually tolerate paté but at that time in the morning I’ve never felt more sick.’

‘Back in 2006, I had just come back from the US and was taking the underground to the station where the train would take me to my hometown. Saw a guy sitting a little bit away, bringing pictures of women in the newspaper and started kissing each of them.

Nothing will ever be as weird as that for me.’

‘Top deck of a London bus. Bloke got on wearing a tracksuit, got off wearing a business suit, shirt and tie. At no point did he even remotely flash anyone. I was impressed. No, I’ve no idea how he managed the trousers, I wasn’t watching that closely. I suspect he had a personal door into another dimension or something.’

‘I once saw a man eating the contents of a tin of cat food. Just spooning it into his mouth like it was chocolate cake.’
