This patriotic GB News viewer’s schoolboy error made everyone’s day better
You might remember a little while ago Tory MP Andrew Rosindell demanding that the BBC play the national anthem at the end of every night to create a bit of ‘unity and pride’ in the year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
There were a few issues with this – such as the BBC not actually stopping broadcasting much these days, plus the fact that Radio 4 already plays it every night. Oh, and also because we don’t live in North Korea.
But never fear everyone, because GB News has kindly stepped into the breach – of course it has – by playing the national anthem every day at 5.59am every day. What better way to get GB News viewers up in the morning?
GB News kicks off today’s live programming by playing God Save the Queen.
The anthem will play out across GB News Television and GB News Radio at 5.59am every morning. 🇬🇧

Andrew Rosindell was obviously brimming with excitement.
A proud moment for British broadcasting! At 5.59am today @GBNEWS will start the day with the National Anthem of our country, whilst showing magnificent scenery from around the United Kingdom. What a beautiful way to begin this historic Platinum Jubilee year! #GodSaveTheQueen 🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/SyUk5Dpjsk

We only mention it because this particular GB News viewer made an unfortunate schoolboy error and it made everyone’s day just a little bit better.
Blame the overexcitement of it all.
Here’s what journalist @Otto_English made of the whole thing.
You can't eat flags and national anthems. Flags and national anthems won't give you a job, or pay your gas bill or educate your kids. They won't make your country respected internationally or increase your GDP.
But all they've got is flags and national anthems. https://t.co/2Slb7mOZcF

And last word to BBC2’s Newnight, which did this a few years ago and will surely never be bettered.
That Tory MP who wants the BBC to play the National Anthem every night 1st raised the idea 5 years ago – Newsnight reaction was brilliant… pic.twitter.com/V0LAPRoQj0
